* Dotty : documentation * 1) Legal dispositions --------------------- This software is under the GNU General Public Licence. for more informations, please read the COPYING file. 2) Aim of the game ------------------ Dotty is the well known "Dots Game", in French "Les petits carreaux". Everybody played this game on a sheet of paper during boring courses at school, no ;-) ? The aim is very simple : you have to get the maximum cells on the checker. To get a cell, you must "close" it that's to say you must check the last edge of a cell. To mark an edge, just click on it. When yo win a cell, you are allowed to play again, that's to say to mark another edge of a cell. The winner is the player who has the maximum of cells. Cell's owner are labelled with a little icon : a "HotSync" bitmap for Pilot's cells, a "Smiley" bitmap for the human. Scores are display at the top right corner of the window, to avoid having to count cells... When Pilot plays, 2 little arrows show you where it played. That's useful otherwise when the screen gets filled or is rather wide, it's really difficult to seen where Pilot played. 3) Preferences -------------- An "Options" menu item allows configuration of the game, that's to say width and height of the checker, and allows the Pilot or the Human to play the first shot. 4) Current game saving ---------------------- "Dotty" saves current game if you have to switch application during a game. So you can recover the game in the state you left it when you boss came in your office ;-) 5) Computer thinking -------------------- The computer thinking isn't my algorithm. I got inspiration for this part from a Java source by Art Matheny . Thank's to him. Of course, you can find this source on the net. 6) Technical note ----------------- "Dotty" was written with Gcc under Linux. Source is easily recompilable.
