Well done on downloading 6th Gear - Ultimate Challenge! We hope that this product will provide you with hours of driving pleasure.


Requirements

You need a Palm OS 5.0 compatible device with a 320x320 minimum color display.
You need full Palm sound streaming support to hear music.
The game support basic sounds for Sony Clie devices without the standard sound streaming support.

The following memory requirements must be met to run the game:

Running +-1.4MB (Free memory needed after installation)
Total +-3.2MB


Installation

Palm OS: Use your Palm Desktop Installation software to sync the single .prc file to your device. 6th Gear - Ultimate Challenge will by default be installed in your Games category.


Registration

When you purchase this product, you must provide your Palm device ID to Handango.com to receive your registration code. Once you are registered, you can download and install updated versions without losing any of your game settings or without losing registration status. You register by tapping on "TAP TO REGISTER" on the main screen. Enter your registration code in the space provided and tap on the "OK" button. You should get a message that the product was registered successfully. If not, please make sure that you entered your code correctly and that you provided us or our reseller with the correct Palm ID when you bought the game. If all else fails, contact support@cronotech.co.za for help and provide us with your Palm HotSync ID and the registration code that you received.


Menu's

You can navigate through the menu's by tapping on menu options. You can tap the "back" icon at the bottom left to return to a previous meny screen. All red arrows can be tapped on to change settings.

Scenery and weather selection


On this menu screen, you can select your preferred scenery. All scenery have different tracks, road surfaces and objects beside the road. You can also select the weather conditions at the bottom, including sunny, rainy and snowy conditions.
NOTE: The tracks and weather conditions are pre-defined for Circuit Mode, so selecting scenery and weather conditions will have no effect on Circuit Mode.
Car options

The car option screen consist of three parts. Tap on the arrow next to "More" to cycle between screens.

Screen 1:

On this screen you can set general preferences for your car.

Gears: Auto or Manual gear shifting.
Speed: KMH or MPH speed display.
Cruise Control On or Off. Turning this on will cause your car to accelerate automatically.
Damage On or Off. Turning this off will make your car indestructable.

Screen 2:

On this screen you need to select a car skin and select some performance figures.

Cycle through the car skins by tapping on the left or right pointing arrows at the top. When the default setting at the bottom is on, default car performance settings will be chosen for the specific car. To build up your own performance settings, tap on "default" to turn default mode off.

Only adjustable when default mode is off!

Mass: Adjust the mass of your car. Heavier cars will accelerate slower.
Grip: You can select better tyre grip for worse conditions.
Drag: Higher drag will decrease acceleration at higher speed.
Brakes: Try different brake strengths and set this to your favourite.

Screen 3:

Here you can view/change some more performance settings. You can only change these settings if the default option on the previous screen is off.

Torque curve: This graph shows your car's power response to engine revolutions.
Gear ratio's: This graph shows your gear ratio's, lowests gear on the left side. The rightmost ratio is the final-drive (Differential) ratio.
Controls

You can configure controls to suit your needs. Tap on the control function that you want to change. "Press Key" will flash and you can then press the desired key. A description of the key will be shown next to the control function. 6th Gear - Ultimate Challenge supports any key that is implemented through the normal way in OS 5.0, so if you have a device with special keys it should be possible to confige with those keys. "Other" will be displayed as the key name when the key is unknown to the game.

Description of control functions:

The following buttons must be hold down to perform the action:

Accelerate: Press this button to accelerate (If a gear is selected!)
Brake: Press this button to brake.
Turn Left: Press this button to turn your car to the left.
Turn Right: Press this button to turn your car to the right.

The following buttons must be pressed and released to perform the function.

Gear Up: Press this button to shift gears up. (Auto gear mode only)
Gear Down: Press this button to shift gears down. (Auto gear mode only)
Auto Cruise: Press this button to toggle Cruise mode.

Stylus controls are supported in various screen areas. The figure below shows the areas of control. You still need buttons to shift the gears in manual gear mode.

Sound

Use this menu option to adjust music or sound effect volume. You can tap on the bars or on the arrows to adjust the settings.
Records

This option shows various records:

Lap Records: Records are shown per scenery for completed laps.
Scene Records: Records are shown per scenery for completed races.
Circuit Records: Records are shown in stages total circuit time.

Records can't be broken during Practice and One-on-One modes. Tap on "Reset Records" to reset the current records screen. You will be asked to confirm the reset, just tap on yes or no to confirm or cancel.
Drive!
Practice mode (3 Laps, any scenery and weather condition)
In this game mode you can get familiar with your car by driving around without other vehicles on the road.
Arcade mode (3 Laps, any scenery and weather condition)
A race against time with other vehicles on the road.
One-on-One mode (3 Laps, any scenery and weather condition)
A race against an opponent without other vehicles on the road.
Circuit mode (15 stages, 3 laps each, pre-defined scenery and weather conditions )
Test your abilities to the fullest! Simular to Arcade mode, but you have to complete 15 stages. Damage is ON by default for this game mode and damage is carried forward from one stage to another. Repairs can be earned at the en of each race by breaking lap or circuit records! Without records, minimal repairs will be done! You can exit from Circuit mode and continue later, but you will have to re-race the current track if not completed yet.
Difficulty
After selecting a game mode, you will be asked to select a difficulty mode. More difficulty levels will cause shorter time limits between checkpoints. In One-on-One mode, difficulty will also determine the skills level of your opponent!
Credits
View this menu for various Credits, including developers and beta testers.

Game screen

1...Car revs.
2...Speed display (MPH or KMH, depending on setting)
3...Current gear position. (Some cars have only 5 gears!)
4...Exit button, tap it to exit at any time.
5...Your position during One-on-One mode.
6...Time limit to reach the next checkpoint.
7...Car damage. A full indicator indicates no damage.
8...Current lap out of 3 laps.
